Sarah and Tom Brady celebrate at 2008 Best Buddies

We're getting into the homestretch! On May 30th I will ride my bicycle 100 miles in the Audi Best Buddies Hyannis Port Challenge in support of the more than 7 million people in the US and 250 million people around the world living with intellectual disabilities. This year I'll ride the first 80 miles on my own and I'll switch to a tandem and ride the last 20 miles with my daughter, Sarah. The ride will be physically challenging, but the reward will be fantastic! Sarah and I have been training and she is surprising me with her effort--and entertaining me with her chatter.

Still, I really need your help! As all of us have tightened our belts, Best Buddies continues to provide terrific services for Sarah and people with challenges like hers. Last weekend Sarah's Best Buddies group held a Prom and it brought tears to my eyes seeing everyone dressed to the nines dancing and singing together. Almost made we wish I could be a teen again!

In light of the current economy, I know how difficult it can be to contribute and I really appreciate how generous everyone has been. If you haven't yet donated and can give anything, please know that any amount you give will ensure Best Buddies continues to provide critical services and job integration for people with intellectual disabilities. The best parts: your donation is tax deductible and 100% of the funds I raise go directly to services for Sarah and others like her. Sarah participates in a neighboring community's Best-Buddies chapter and we're trying to launch one in Needham. No doubt the activities directly affect the lives of Sarah and others living with intellectual disabilities but to me, the most incredible part is how the programs affect and benefit Sarah's typical peers who participate. At the Prom you couldn't tell who was having the better time.

Best Buddies is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people with intellectual disabilities form friendships and find jobs in their community. The Audi Best Buddies Challenge events are a strong symbol of the lasting friendships and open community that Best Buddies fosters throughout their programs.
